The Zora are a widespread aquatic humanoid people who immigrated to Hyrule from another world with the Parella.
History
The Zora are among the oldest races of Hyrule. During the Ancient Age they dominated the southern reaches of the Great Sea and established multiple kingdoms and cities beneath its waves. Between 5000-4500 BG, the Ocean Zora expanded their civilization to the shores of modern Lanayru, Arcadia and Spool Swamp. Some ventured even further south, establishing new outposts and independent colonies. In the northern reaches of Hyrule, the Ocean Zora managed to peacefully co-exist with the colonies of the Cobble Kingdom. However, some time after the collapse of the Cobble, a long war between the Zora and the newly established Kingdom of Arcadia broke out. This conflict eventually led to the death of their primary deities by the hand of the Hero of Men, leaving their faith in shambles. Following such a crushing defeat, the greater Ocean Zora civilization collapsed and splintered into several smaller kingdoms. While their domains in Lanayru and Spool Swamp remained, a large portion of the population chose to migrate further inland to the Dominion Valley. These migrants would later establish the Zora Dominion and by 3450 BG, the city of Dominion Prime was completed, marking the Dominion as a prevalent power. In the following centuries, the Dominion attempted to annex much of the former territories of the Ocean Zora, such as Lanayru.
